About LWGS

Founded in 1922, the first President of the The London Welsh Golf Society (LWGS) was Prime Minister David Lloyd George.  Early members were judges and lawyers based around the Gray’s Inn Road.  Today our members come from a much more sophisticated and diverse cross section of society!!

Our aim is to bring together Welsh and “London Welsh” people as well as those with a strong and genuine association with Welsh affairs.

As well as The Annual St David’s Day Golf Day the Society holds three golf days in the London area during the summer months and an 'away Spring Tour' each May at a venue selected by the incumbent Captain.  The 'away Spring Tour' usually involves a challenge match against a local vets team which is very competitive and involves dinner and the usual festivities.

Although the golf is taken seriously with the sport’s traditional standards maintained, we welcome players of all abilities.

Sefydlwyd Cymdeithas Golff Cymry Llundain yn 1922 gyda’r Prif Weinidog David Lloyd George y llywydd cyntaf.  Roedd mwyafrif o’r aelodau cynnar yn farnwyr, cyfreithwyr a boneddigion Llundain.  Heddiw mae’r aelodau yn dod o faesydd llawer mwy eang.

Ein nod yw i ddod â “Chymry Llundain” at eu gilydd trwy gyfrwng y gêm o golff.

We have been very lucky in having 3 great Honorary Professionals as members.
